Novel Reactor System for Utilisation of Unprocessed Biomass and Waste Fuels to Replace Fossil Fuels

General Project Information

Objectives: The objective is to introduce a novel technology, which makes it possible to increase use of unprocessed biomasses and solid waste fuels in high-energy consuming European industries.

The specific objectives of this demonstration HOTDISC project are:
1) Prove that the reactor can operate with a feed rate of at least 3 ton/h of biomass / waste fuel;
2) Demonstrate that this will save an amount of coal of 14.000 tons / year, which constitute 25% of the fossil fuel energy consumed by the cement plant;
3) To Demonstrate an investment of 1030 EUR/kWe, and a production cost (positive) of (0.03) / kWh;
4) To show a reduction of the emission of CO(2) of 36.000 tons / year;5) To demonstrate a reduction of emissions of harmful compounds and elements like NO(x), heavy metals and dioxins / furans. For NO(x) specifically about 230 ton NO(2) / year;
6) To preserve jobs.
